The Nashville Tennessean reports that Mark Fox has landed Tennessee State sophomore guard Gerald Robinson, Jr. as a transfer. Robinson will have two years of eligibility remaining after he sits out the upcoming 2009-2010 season. He also considered transferring to Alabama, Memphis and Marquette.
As I mentioned two weeks ago, this can definitely play at the SEC level.
On the negative side, Chris Barnes, rising junior power forward, was arrested for minor traffic violations on Friday at 6:20 pm. The State of Georgia beefed up its rules around driving without proper ID, tags, registration and/or insurance last July in an effort to run illegal aliens out of the state. I'm not sure how/if the law changes were involved here. But it's a MINOR traffic issue, and I would hope that the athletic department doesn't overreact on this one. He wasn't drinking or doing anyone harm. He just didn't have his papers in order. It's an act of stupidity (that I have committed). It's not an act of danger or recklessness.
