AJ Green vs. Vandy (Image: Hipple)
Julio Jones picked up the hardware instead of Georgia's AJ Green. This one was awarded by the SEC Media. You know what's even dumber? Julio Jones was named 2nd Team All-SEC behind Green by the same writers. Compare their stats:
RECEIVE YDS/GAME | Cl | G | Rec. | Yards | TD | Long | Rec/G | Avg/C | Avg/G | |
1 | A.J. Green-UGA | FR | 12 | 55 | 951 | 8 | 54 | 4.6 | 17.3 | 79.2 |
2 | M. Massaquoi-UGA | SR | 12 | 57 | 910 | 8 | 78 | 4.8 | 16 | 75.8 |
3 | Brandon LaFell-LSU | JR | 12 | 61 | 903 | 8 | 43 | 5.1 | 14.8 | 75.2 |
4 | Julio Jones-UA | FR | 13 | 51 | 847 | 4 | 64 | 3.8 | 16.6 | 65.2 |
AJ Green had over 100 more receiving yards and twice as many touchdowns in fewer total games. Yet, Julio is Freshman of the Year? How many votes did Gary Danielson have in this thing?
Maybe this will piss him off to take his game to an even higher level. Also, congrats to the following Bulldogs who made All-SEC honors:
- OL - Clint Boling - 1st Team
WR - AJ Green - 1st Team
RB - Knowshon Moreno - 1st Team
WR - Mohamed Massaquoi - 2nd Team
QB - Matthew Stafford - 2nd Team
LB - Rennie Curran - 2nd Team
S - Reshad Jones - 2nd Team
P - Brian Mimbs - 2nd Team
